These are kinda crappy pictures because, well, it's dark out there, but here's the driver's side, with a slight leak:Īnd here's the passenger side, with a slightly larger leak: Tonight I finally got it in the driveway and up in the air so I can take a closer look. It's been parked in the street while life happened. This is going to (hopefully) go fairly quickly I currently have 5 cars, none of which share any parts, a one car driveway, and a 0 car garage, so this is going to (hopefully) go fairly quickly. I'm planning on yanking out the motor to do the head gaskets and timing belt, and hoping that the compressor is minor. They got some very minor diagnosis done, realized that it could be another several thousand dollar job, and decided it was time for a new car.įor this, I paid $2000. It also has a noisy A/C compressor, a dodgy hood latch, and the pièce de résistance, an oil leak that's dripping onto the header. Importantly, it has no rust, fairly new (late 2019) tires, and a new clutch (yes it's a stick). So what is it? Well, it's a 2008 Subaru Forester, owned since 2012 by some friends of mine, with ~160k on it. I think it will be hard to actually lose money on this one, but time will tell. I've been mulling the idea of picking up a car to flip over for a while, and when this opportunity presented itself, I jumped on it. That's a $500 increase from 2021.Well, I've finally done it. The 2022 Subaru Forester hits dealers this winter, starting from $29,495. A front-view camera, underbody skid plates, and a high-capacity roof rack round out the major changes, with extra cladding, all-weather seat fabric, and anodized copper accents as the cosmetic features. The suspension gets a taller ride height and off-road tuning, with unique wheels wearing Yokohama all-terrain tires. It adds new gear ratios for the CVT and a new oil cooler to improve off-road driving and raise max towing. The new Wilderness trim, first seen on the Outback, sits two from the top of Forester's seven trim grades.

Higher spec trims with side/rear vehicle detection have added Emergency Automatic Steering for 2022, which helps the driver avoid low-speed collisions. It has pre-collision braking and throttle management, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and lane centring, standard on all models. Now in its fourth generation, Subaru's EyeSight safety suite adds an electric brake booster for improved emergency braking performance. New fog light openings complete the look at the nose while the rear sees similar detail changes. A new bar, chrome on top trims, bisects the grille at a lower level than last year's model, while the headlights have become more angular and have a large cut-out near the grille. The refresh to the 2022 Subaru Forester isn't a massive one, but it helps to freshen the look of the crossover. Also new for 2022 is a new Wilderness trim level, intended to give the Forester more off-road capability along with a more rugged appearance.
